Flying Dog’s core values of purposeful, provocative and irreverent flow through the veins of the brewery’s founding owners, George Stranahan and Richard McIntyre. George and Richard were friends with the “Gonzo Journalist” Hunter S. Thompson who coined the brand’s tagline “Good People Drink Good Beer” and with the Gonzo Artist, Ralph Steadman, who illustrates the brand’s packaging.
One of the craft brewing industry’s most skilled teams continues to brew Flying Dog’s award-winning litter of ales. President and CEO, Eric Warner is a German-trained Brewmeister and one of only a handful of American graduates of the Technical University of Munich at Weihenstephan. Executive Brewer, Matt Brophy is a graduate of one of North America’s best brewing schools, the Seibel Institute and has been brewing beer since he heard Charlie Papazian of the Brewer’s Association, interviewed on NPR. Matt went on to win a homebrewing award for before he was even old enough to drink his creation.
