The People’s Republic of Flying Dog is now in session. It’s happy hour at Flying Dog Brewery, so here is your latest dose of irreverence.GonzoFest: The Real National Convention
The moment is finally upon us. Arriving with more fanfare and anticipation than the Republican and Democratic National Conventions combined, GonzoFest will be an event short on hype and long on satisfaction. Join us for GonzoFest September 13th at the Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, MD from 3pm-9pm for our annual throwdown - the People’s Republic of Flying Dog delegation welcomes all members. We will be hosting the Hard Times Cafe Chili Cook-Off, plus there will be live music and everyone will be participating in grandiose revelry.
We hope you all will join the Flying Dog Crew in celebration as we raise money for the Heartly House. We imagine that protesting will be at an all-time low during our convention. For full event details visit the Flying Dog homepage.
Photos From The Underbelly
Seeing it is convention, season I want to stay on that theme for just a minute. We ran across this great blog, aptly named, Fear and Loathing - 2008 Conventions. This photoblog chronicles the Democratic and Republican National Conventions from a behind-the-scenes look that is often passed over by the mainstream media. Whatever your political views are, these are some powerful photos that give a unique view of a political scene you don’t see on the major networks. We know Hunter would be proud. Drop Us A LineWhile surfing on his iPhone that he spent 6 hours waiting in line to buy, Flying Dog’s Prime Minister of Marketing Neal Stewart came across this great website called SuggestionBox. I can’t say much about how he chooses to spend 6 hours of his time, but the website is pretty useful. You can log on at any time and send us a suggestion on any topic from packaging and events to beer styles and distribution. To make a suggestion, follow this link.
Some Things Continue To Amaze On September 23rd, we held a fundraiser for one of Flying Dog’s most cherished employees, Mike Freeman. I have covered several of our fundraising efforts in the newsletter over the past months and just wanted to report back that, to date, we have raised almost $30,000 for Mike’s fight against Brain Cancer. We want to thank everyone for their generosity and compassion and we hope that you continue to support others in their times of need. If you are interested in learning more about Mike’s fight visit www.mikesupport.com.
