The People’s Republic of Flying Dog is now in session. It’s happy hour at Flying Dog Brewery, so here is your latest dose of irreverence.
With the 4th of July approaching there’s been a surge of Dr. Gonzo-related items in the news. I don’t know if this is a coincidence, but these tributes couldn’t come at a more fitting time of the year, seeing Hunter was a fierce defender of the American Dream. Although these tributes are all fitting, the biggest one you could give our co-conspirator and avid political junkie is to get involved and passionate with the looming election. Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S Thompson
Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson is the long awaited documentary from director Alex Gibney about Hunter. This film has been making the film festival rounds to rave reviews and now the time has come to unleash it on us common folk who go to movie theaters. The film’s official release is Friday, July 4th. Lastly on the HST barrage is the new book by Beef Torrey and Kevin Simonson titled Conversations with Hunter S. Thompson. The description from the book’s website explains that, “Conversations with Hunter S. Thompson is the first compilation of selected personal interviews that traces the trajectory of his prolific and much-publicized career. These engaging exchanges reveal Thompson’s determination, self-indulgence, energy, outrageous wit, ire, and passions as he discusses his life and work.” To order Conversations with Hunter S.
